Riverheads Elementary Library's

Objectives

To foster a learning environment that encourages investigation, allows for independent thinking, and develops effective study habits for all ages and abilities.
To provide an opportunity for students to develop the skills and attitudes which will encourage school library usage.
To provide materials that support the curriculum, student interests, and staff needs as funds are available.
To model the integration of technology in the curriculum for students and teachers.
To abide by the principles set forth in the School Library Bill of Rights of the American Association of School Librarians.

Responsibilities

The Riverheads Elementary Librarian:

teaches all students at Riverheads Elementary.
cooperatively develops a plan for selection and evaluation of materials.
coordinates and prepares books and materials for circulation from the school library.
assists students in making wise selection of reading materials.
encourages students and their family members to read.
participates as a member of the Riverheads Elementary community in doing whatever is necessary to ensure every child receives the best education possible.
performs additional tasks as assigned by the school principal and district administration.
