Riverheads Elementary Library's

Objectives

 

  • To foster a learning environment that encourages investigation, allows for independent thinking, and develops effective study habits for all ages and abilities.
  • To provide an opportunity for students to develop the skills and attitudes which will encourage school library usage.
  • To provide materials that support the curriculum, student interests, and staff needs as funds are available.
  • To model the integration of technology in the curriculum for students and teachers.
  • To abide by the principles set forth in the School Library Bill of Rights of the American Association of School Librarians.
Responsibilities
The Riverheads Elementary Librarian:
  • teaches all students at Riverheads Elementary.
  • cooperatively develops a plan for selection and evaluation of materials.
  • coordinates and prepares books and materials for circulation from the school library.
  • assists students in making wise selection of reading materials.
  • encourages students and their family members to read.
  • participates as a member of the Riverheads Elementary community in doing whatever is necessary to ensure every child receives the best education possible.
  • performs additional tasks as assigned by the school principal and district administration.
