* Seniors: Have you received any scholarship money? Please let Mrs. Higgins know the complete/full name and amount of each scholarship by May 13, 2014

in order for it to be included in the Senior Awards and Graduation programs. Remember to continue checking the scholarship board in the counseling office and counseling webpage for all local and national scholarship deadlines.
 

* ALL Seniors: A “post-high plans” information sheet was issued with your report card. Completed sheets are due to the counseling office from every Senior by May 13th, 2014. Whether you plan to attend college, join the military, or enter the world of work, ALL SENIORS

need to return their completed sheets. If you need a new copy, stop by the counseling office.
 

* Parents and Students: Academic Awards will be held on Friday, May 30th, 2014

at 6:30pm at SDHS. Please mark on your calendar. 
 

*  Seniors and Parents: Senior reception will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014

at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. The Senior Awards ceremony and Senior Slide show will follow at 7:00pm in the auditorium. Please plan on attending this important night before graduation. 
 

* Seniors: Have you committed and paid your deposit to attend a college or university in the fall? Please stop by the counseling office and let Mrs. Halterman know which school you will be attending in the fall. This is vital information for final transcripts to be sent.

* Do you need to repeat a class in summer school? Augusta County’s Summer School Session will be from June 11- July 1, 2014. Classes will be held at Fort Defiance High School. The cost is $350. Classes offered are listed in the application material. Information and applications may be picked up in the school counseling office at SDHS. Applications and Payment need to be returned by June 6th, 2014 at 8:00am


 

 
Are you planning to attend BRCC in the fall? Make sure you fill out a transcript request form. BRCC will need a copy of your final transcript from SDHS. Forms can be found in the school counseling office. Please see Mrs. Halterman with questions. in order to receive approval for accommodations in time for the 2014 PSAT and SAT for the 2014 2015 school year. Please see your counselor or case manager for details, or visit the SDHS School Counseling webpage’s “SAT/ACT Information” link for more information. in the counseling office to participate. Senior students needing a class will need to pay prior to this date. Please contact your counselor for details.Juniors: If your plan is to apply to a college in the Fall, you should take the SAT or ACT (or both…please contact the schools admissions offices to see which standardized test scores they require) this Spring semester. You must register online at collegeboard.org  or act.org and include the SDHS CEEB code of 472197. Links to the websites can be found on the school counseling webpage. Ensure you list all CEEB codes for colleges you want scores sent to after testing. To send scores later, the CollegeBoard may require a fee. See your counselor with questions.
