My name is Katherine Ralston. I am in my tenth year as principal of North River Elementary School.
I was born in Memphis, Texas, and grew up in Central Texas. I have lived in Highland County for the last 31 years.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Harry, for 43years. We have three children: Chuck (wife Charlea) who lives in Dayton; Beth (husband Walter) who lives in Louisville, Kentucky; and Tammy (who has moved back to the contiguous 48 states after living on Maui for 11 years) and her husband, Michael. They have given us seven wonderful grandsons who are the delight of our lives: Logan, Dustin, Seth, Ethan, Jacob, Daniel, and Benjamin.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Arts in Education (Supervision and Administration) from James Madison University. I taught in Highland County's Public Schools for several years before teaching at Stuart's Draft Middle School. I was assistant principal in both Highland County and at Stuart's Draft Elementary before moving to North River.
I have had many wonderful adventures at North River and I love coming to work everyday. We have an experienced, knowledgeable staff and diligent students. We may be the best-kept secret in Augusta County!
