Welcome to School

Dear Cassell Knight,

Are you having a wonderful summer? I do hope that you are having time to relax, play, and read! Earlier this summer I spent two weeks visiting eight states with my husband, Mr. Garber. You may know that we live on a dairy farm and have over 500 Holstein cows. Did you know that we have a few horses? My husband especially likes the giant Percheron work horses. We love living in the country and decided on our vacation this year to visit more farm land. We focused our vacation on visiting areas where farming is being done using horses instead of tractors.  We visited West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Also, we visited some counties in Virginia that were new to us, including, Tazwell, Giles, and Craig. We crossed the mighty Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. In Paducah Kentucky I visited the American Quilters Museum. It was the highlight of the trip! You may know that my hobby is making quilts.  My quilts are very simple compared to the complex ones in the museum.  My adventures were memorable; however, I was very glad to get home to Cassell to get ready for your return in August.

You will notice some new adults at Cassell this year and some returning adults in new positions. Terri Whiddon, Reading Specialist; Linette Andes, Special Education; Bonnie Hite, Fifth Grade, Jenny Czerwinski, Third Grade; Tonya Garber, Second Grade; Sharyn Huff, First Grade; Debbie Sprouse and Megan Chapman, Kindergarten; Heidi Brunner, Preschool; and Jessica Stevens, Teacher Assistant. This year we will have five Kindergarten teachers and two Reading Specialists.  We are very pleased to have additional adults at Cassell to help you with your educational journey.

I have missed you very much this summer and look forward to 2012-2013 being the best school year yet! Remember that Cassell Knights are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!

Dr. Mindy Garber
