• Meet the Librarian
My name is Wendy McCoy.  This is my fourth year as the librarian at Guy K. Stump Elementary.  I am currently starting my 17th year in the education field.  My first two years I worked at Round Hill Montessori Primary School in Roanoke where I taught a first/second grade combined classroom.  Then, I taught fourth grade for four years at Riverview Elementary/Middle School in my hometown of Grundy, VA.  After leaving Grundy, I got my first job as a librarian with Newport News Public Schools where I worked for 3 years.  Now my family and I live in Fishersville, and I am starting my 7th year as a librarian with Augusta County Schools.
I have always been an avid reader.  I love to read just about any genre of book.  I know this is why I decided to become a librarian.  I have 2 bachelor's degrees, Social Work and Interdisciplinary Studies.  I also have a master's degree from Radford University.  My major was Curriculum and Instruction: Library Media Technology.  I am always looking for ways to advance my knowledge and skills in order to help my students.
I am married to Gerald, and we have two children who are enrolled at Wilson High and Wilson Middle Schools. We all love animals.  We have four cats, two dogs, and two rabbits.  We are all also big science fiction and movie fans particularly Doctor Who.  As a matter of fact, we enjoy traveling to comic cons and meeting various Doctor Who actors.
If you need anything feel free to contact me at school or via email.  I look forward to seeing your child visit the library.
