Welcome to a new but final year at Verona Elementary School!  Verona staff will be celebrating the school's achievements by teaching and improving the education of our previous students.  Students will be celebrating their progress and enjoying the planned activities throughout the year.
The Augusta County Title 1 program remains a federally funded program that now serves students in grades K-5 in the areas or reading and language arts.  The classroom teacher will provide the initial instruction and Title 1 will provide extra support. Time out of the classroom is planned around any direct instruction given by the classroom teacher.  Personal educational plans are developed from informal reading inventories, PALS testing, spelling assessments, and teacher observations to determine the best methods that work for each student.
The Title 1 room is located in the First grade building room #6.  Parents are welcome to stop in to observe or participate in their student's Title 1 group. Please view the schedule and call ahead to make sure that the schedule has not changed for the day due to school assemblies, classroom activities, or meetings.
Parents are a very important part of the Title 1 program.  Parents are needed to serve on the Parent Advisory Council to help plan county activities for the 2016-17 school year.  There will be a Title 1 Open House in the fall, a field trip to the Green Valley Book Fair, and a Make-It Take-It workshop for Title 1 parents and students.  Once dates and times are established you will be receiving more information about each event.  I hope to also include a few activities at Clymore Elementary school to introduce Title 1 students to the school.  I hope this will help our students make a smooth transition to their new school next year.  Instead of a homework folder that I have used in the past, I will be using a communication folder to keep each of you updated on class work and Title 1 events.  This folder will also provide information about Title 1 and various papers that will require parent signatures.  I hope this will be helpful to all.
I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!
