Tina W. Bowersox, MEd., Principal

I am so excited to be at Verona Elementary this year.  Augusta County has been my home for my entire life.  I am a graduate of Augusta County schools, Mary Baldwin College, and Shenandoah University.  The 2015-2016 school year marks my 20th year in education.  I have taught 5th and 3rd grades and served as a specialist with the instruction department.  Before coming to Verona, I served as the assistant principal at Stuarts Draft Elementary for three years.  My mission is to serve the students and families of the Verona Community while supporting teachers in their mission to help each child meet their full potential.

Verona Elementary will focus on HATS Off to Learning this school year.  We will strive for the VES students, staff, and community to demonstrate and promote positive Habits, Attitudes, Talents, and Skills. VES staff will study the research and findings of John Hattie in order to create “visible learning” for all students.  We will work to identify and implement environmental and instructional strategies that have the most positive impact on student achievement.  Verona Elementary will aspire to demonstrate all seven correlates of an effective school;  a safe and orderly environment,  a climate of high expectations for success, strong instructional leadership, a clear and focused mission, opportunity to learn with students time on task, frequent monitoring of student progress, and positive home and school relations.
