    I. COURSE DESCRIPTION

    EGR 115/ CAD 140: Enhances the principles learned that are related directly to the field of drafting and design.  Gives a more in-depth exposure to detail and working drawings, dimensioning, tolerancing and conventional drafting practices. Teaches CAD modeling, may include parametric modeling.

    Applies principles of orthographic projection, and multi-view drawings. Teaches descriptive geometry including relationships of points, lines, planes and solids. Introduces sectioning, dimensioning and computer graphic techniques. Includes instruction in Computer Aided Drafting.

     
     

    II. STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

    Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following drafting topics:

    Hand Sketching Basic AutoCAD Operation

    Line Types and Precedence Orthographic Projection

    Multi-view Drawings Pictorial Drawings

    Dimensioning and Notes Tolerancing

    Auxiliary Views Section Views

    Threads and Fasteners

     

    III. EVALUATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

    Attendance Policy: Punctuality and regular attendance are essential to the learning process. Should an occasion for tardiness or absence arise, the student should inform the instructor (in advance if possible). All makeup work for missed class time will be the responsibility of the student. Late assignments will not be accepted without prior arrangement. Any late work that is accepted will be subject to a reasonable penalty.

     
     
     
     

    Grade Determination:

    Grading Scale: A = 90-100, B = 80-89, C = 70-79, D = 60-69, F = below 60

    Gradable Content: Grades will be based on the point system. Grade points will be divided by total possible points to receive grades for the following:

    1. Attendance – 10% 4. Midterm – 10%

    2. Assignments – 20% 5. Participation- 10%

    3. Presentations – 25% 6. Final Exam/Project - 25%
