• Beginning CPT/ICD Medical Coding

     

    This course will introduce the student to the fascinating world of medical diagnosis coding. CPT Codes are developed and maintained by the American Medical Association to provide a uniform language which describes medical, surgical and diagnostic services performed by healthcare professionals. This course will enable students to understand and accurately use CPT Codes for medical billing.

     We will explore the purpose of ICD coding and its relationship to reimbursement.  Students will learn basic coding guidelines and how to assign codes based on medical records.  Medical terminology as it relates to coding will also be covered.

    Advanced CPT/ICD Medical Coding

    This course will cover the fundamentals and practices in Medical Coding. The student will learn the rules and principles of Medical Coding.

    CPT Codes are developed and maintained by the American Medical Association to provide a uniform language which describes medical, surgical and diagnostic services performed by healthcare professionals. This course will enable students to understand and accurately use CPT Codes for medical billing.

     We will explore the purpose of ICD coding and its relationship to reimbursement.  Students will learn basic coding guidelines and how to assign codes based on medical records.  Medical terminology as it relates to coding will also be covered. These 2 courses prepare the student to take the CPC (Certified Professional Coders) certification exam.
