Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor's in Education- Nova Southeastern Master's in Curriculum and Instruction- Eastern Mennonite University
I would like to share my journey as a teacher with you-
I graduated from Nova University in South Florida with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Instead of going right into a teaching career, my husband and I choose to have a family. I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay home and raise my three beautiful children (Jasmine-Stephen-Anastasia). When my children started going to school, I made the decision it was time for me to go to school as well. I started my teaching career in Kindergarten at Berkeley Glenn Elementary in Waynesboro, Virginia. Although I loved kindergarten, I was ready for a change. I went back to school and recieved my master's degree in curriculum and instruction with a consentration in mathematics from Eastern Mennonite Univeristy. I have been teaching upper elementary (fourth and fifth grade) since 2013 and absolutely love it!
When I am not teaching, I love to read, garden, and travel.
I love to read historical fiction novels and book club reads. I also have a huge fascination with off-grid living (Thanks to my other "hobby" The Walking Dead).
As for my gardens, I love spending time in the dirt! I love watching the bees, butterflies, and birds enjoying the flowers and this year I have started a small vegetable garden as well!
I have had many opportunites to travel to amazing places throughout my life. I have been to China, The Mediterraneann, and Europe. I also love to cruise the Caribbean! The West Coast will also be a frequent place to visit now, as my oldest daughter moved to LA to follow her dreams and career path.
My teaching philosophy
I believe that we all have something to teach and something to learn from each other. I try to meet the needs of all students by varying instruction. Our class will have group discussions, hands on problem solving, and small group and sometimes individual instruction. When we respect each other's opinion, voice, and learning, we all win.
I look forward to an amazing year with my students!
