Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate your desire to learn more about me and our class! This is a big year for your elementary school student, and every year is a big year for me!
Family is so important to me. My family lives in Verona on a piece of property that has been owned by my family for four generations! My husband and I have been married for almost 25 years! We have two sons who are in high school this year. One is a freshman, and the other is a senior! We also have a precious 3 year old daughter that keeps us young!
Outside of school, our family stays on the move. The kids keep us busy and involved in the community. Our oldest son is an Eagle Scout and the younger is working on his Eagle Project through Troop 72. My husband is an avid fisherman and fishes bass tournaments with the boys and my dad. My oldest son loves fishing so much that he started a fishing club at FDHS (keep that in mind when you get there!). My oldest son also plays church softball. My youngest son loves and plays baseball which keeps us hopping from February to October! I am excited to say that we already have many connections to the Clymore community through these various activities.
My path to teaching was not a short one! All of my teenage years, I taught Sunday School and taught people about horses and horse care. I graduated from Averett College in 1996, earning a Bachelor's in Business Administration and Equestrian Studies. I spent years teaching horseback riding lessons. While I loved the equestrian world, various things in our family's life changed. My husband encouraged me to take my love of teaching about horses and expand it to elementary education. I decided to go back to school in 2011. I attended Liberty University where I completed my Masters in Teaching in Elementary Education. While I was in school, I substitute taught at Verona Elementary and Clymore Elementary. I was also the Artist in Residence for the first half of the 2013-2014 school year at Verona Elementary. Then, I completed my licensure by student teaching the final half of the same year in 5th grade at Verona. Finally, I taught three years at Verona Elementary before the school closed. I was moved to Clymore the following year, and this will be my third year here.
I am so excited to begin my sixth year with a full-time classroom, and I am so thankful that your student is part of it! It's always exciting to start a new year, and I can't wait to get to know all of my students and their families more. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at school at (540)245-5043 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org .
