Degrees and Certifications:
B.A. (English) M.A.T. (Secondary Education)
This is my fourth year at Wilson Memorial. I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and graduated from Turner Ashby High School. From there I went on to James Madison University to receive my Bachelor of Arts in English and then my Master of Arts in Teaching for Secondary Education.
I am looking forward to meeting all of the new 9th grade students and helping them ease into high school. Nobody gets as excited as I do about teaching grammar - trust me! I am also extremely excited to continue teaching 11th grade English, as the American Literature curriculum is my absolute favorite! My goal is to make all my students as excited as I am about all of the great literature classics! :)
I am always happy to talk with students or parents about any questions or concerns that may arise throughout the school year. The best way to reach me is through email as I check my inbox regularly and (try!) to respond to everyone within 24 hours! If I am unable to answer your question or address your concern right away, I will certainly respond to you and let you know that I am working on it!
Despite the challenges we are currently facing, I know we can work together and make this an amazing and memorable school year!
Some fun facts about me:
* I love anything that is purple and/or floral
* I have two pups (a seven year old Bullboxer Pit and a three-month old American Bullmation) that are my entire world!
* I love reading on my porch, watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix, and going to concerts (especially country!)
* I also work as a brain trainer through a company called LearningRx. The skills I have learned through my employment there have certainly influenced my teaching philosophy and are constantly evolving to make me a better teacher. :)
