A little about me...
I grew up in Maryland where I graduated from high school and then pursued my undergraduate degree at James Madison University. I participated in the Marching Royal Dukes and graduated with my BS in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies in 2011. I continued my education at JMU and earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Special Education in 2012. After teaching Special Education for 4 years, I obtained my certification and endorsement to teach English! I recently finished my certificate of endorsement in School Adminstration! See... even teachers are life long learners! This will be my eighth year teaching in Augusta County and I cannot think of a better school than Fort Defiance High School to work at each and every day!
Life outside of school...
Sorry to disappoint you but, teachers really do not live at school! I spend my time out of the classroom attending JMU football games, going to concerts, kayaking, trying new restaurants, and traveling every chance I get! I currently live in Weyers Cave with my two dogs, Zelda (Corgi) and Gunner (Blue Heeler).
Involvement at Fort...
I greatly enjoy being an active member of the Fort community. I am the co-sponsor for the Fort SCA, a sponsor of the class of 2021, a member of the Prom committee, a staff member for the Marching Indians, and I organize study abroad opportunities for our students. In the afternoons and evenings you will find me decorating for an event, meeting with students, or attending Fort sporting events! I am a huge advocate for traveling and love to include students and families in those opportunities. If you are interested in traveling abroad, please see me for more information.
The best way for students and parents to get in contact with me is through my email firstname.lastname@example.org
. I also encourage students to check this webpage for further information.
