Mrs. Yvonne Howdyshell, Principal
Hello BMMS Wildcat Families,
We are off to a great start in the 2019-2020 school year and I am thrilled to be working as your principal. I am no stranger to BMMS as I worked here from 2004-2007 as an 8th grade Language Arts and Civics teacher and also as an Assistant Principal. It is great to be home, and while many of the faculty and staff faces are new, there is a climate of cooperation and it is awesome to be part of a group that works so hard for student success.
I am originally from Staunton and am a graduate of both Mid-Atlantic Christian University and Shenandoah University. I attended James Madison University for Middle Education coursework. In addition to teaching in Augusta County, I have worked as a middle level educator, instructional coach and administrator in Waynesboro, Charlottesville and Fluvanna County Public Schools. I believe whole-heartedly in the mission and plan set forth in Augusta County Schools and feel it an honor to serve students and families here in this way.
I entered education to make a difference because some special adults had a very powerful effect on me during a turbulent childhood. I want to pay it forward and feel that being an administrator has the multiplier effect--by helping teachers, I can help many students.
Outside of school, I love being a wife and mom. My son attends one of our feeder high schools and when I am not at school or driving him to and from activities, I love to read, decorate, cook, shop for antiques and I have been known to do a little DIY magic from time to time. Our four-legged children (Giuseppe, Darla, Fred, and Kitten) bring lots of laughter and love to us as well.
One of my favorite quotes is from Zig Ziglar, “You were designed for accomplishment, engineered for success, and endowed with the seeds of greatness.” I hope all of our students come to know this during their time at BMMS as we encourage them together.
Please contact me by phone (540) 886-5806 or email - firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or concerns. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and partner together.
