Welcome!  I am Mrs. Henderson.  I look forward to having you in my class.
Prior to coming to Guy K Stump Elementary, I taught at Ladd Elementary for 12 years until it closed.  I grew up in this area, graduated from Riverheads High School, and then went on to get my undergraduate degree in Social Work at Old Dominion University.  Fresh out of college, I worked in a local daycare center for a little over a year.  I then got a job working in Child Protective Services and Foster Care for the Waynesboro Department of Social Services.  I quickly discovered that this may not be my calling and decided to go back to get my teaching degree from Mary Baldwin.  I continued working at WDSS for the next two years while taking my education classes.  Although working in the Social Work field taught me a great deal, I know my heart is with teaching.
I currently live in Lyndhurst with my husband Ronnie, my daughter, Jaelynn and son, Zachary.  I am actively involved in my church, enjoy spending time with my family, watching my kids play sports, Cougar Football, college football (Go HOKIES!), cooking, and reading.
Please be on the lookout for the parent brochure that should have came home with your child during the first weeks of school.  This gives an overview of what you and your child can expect in fifth grade this year.  The fifth grade team utilizes the remind app.  Be on the look out in the first couple of weeks of school for the sign up instructions.
I am looking forward to a great year.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.  I check my email several times a day and will return phone calls as soon as possible.
