    Students enrolled in Nutrition and Wellness focus on understanding wellness, investigating principles of nutrition, using science and technology in food management, ensuring food safety, planning menus and preparing food, and exploring careers in the field of nutrition and wellness.

     

    Career Cluster: Human Services

    Counseling and Mental Health Services - Dietitian, Nutritionist Nutritional Counselor

    Family and Community Services - Adult Day Care Coordinator Personal Care Services, Personal Trainer

     

    Materials: Students are expected to bring the following materials to class every day:

    • Chromebook (with charger) we will be working in Canvas
    • Three-ring binder
    • Notebook paper
    • Writing utensils (pencils, blue or black pens, at least one highlighter.)
    • face mask
    • Textbook – Guide to Good Food (Will remain in the classroom)

     

    Evaluation:

    All work is graded on a scale of points possible.  Course grade will be based on the following:

    • Major Grades (50%):  includes tests & projects (50-100 points each)
    • Minor Grades (40%): includes class work, (50-400  points per assignment)
    • Participation (10%): includes homework  (10-40 points per assignment)

     

    The Augusta County Public Schools grading scale will be used and can be accessed on the ACPS web page.

     

    Final Exam:  To Be Announced based on county policy and adjustments due to COVID-19

     

     Every assignment is important; therefore, it is a student’s responsibility to attempt each assignment given.  Unless otherwise noted, all assignments will be submitted via Canvas with a 6:00 pm Sunday due date.

     

    Missing/Late Work Policy and Incomplete Grade:

    • any assignment not submitted will receive a “missing” for that assignment
    • the “missing” will remain until the assignment is completed
    • there will be no penalty for late work
    • when submitting late work, PLEASE  email Mrs. Sharp with the following information:
    • which assignment you are submitting
    • why the assignment is late (please be honest!)
    • for credit, late assignment MUST be submitted by 3:16 PM on the Friday prior to progress reports being distributed or the end of the nine weeks; after that cut-off, any missing work will result in a zero
    • distance learners attendance will be based off of work completion each week

     

      An incomplete is assigned if the student is missing any major assignment or 25 percent or more of the total assigned grades.

     

    Mask and Social Distancing

    All students must wear a mask during school.  If you do not have a mask or have forgotten yours at home there will be mask available as you enter the building.
