    Introduction to Music is a six-week course offered to sixth graders at Stuarts Draft Middle School.  Students actively take part in many activities that focus on learning music concepts These activities include:  basic music theory, movement activities, Orff instruments, guitars, and composer study. 
     
    Music Theory:  Students will review/learn notes and successfully identify them on a grand staff.
     
    Movement Activities:  Students will use their creativity and express themselves through music and movement.
     
     
    Orff Instruments:  Students will learn several songs on the Orff instrument that reinforce music knowledge.
     
    Exploring Guitars:  Students will learn simple chords and accompany various music genres.
     
    Composer Discovery:  Students will learn about composers and their music.  Students will explore the historical time period through which these composers lived.
