Congratulations to Tori Leche and David Casey! These students will be representing our school at All-Virginia Chorus April 25-27!

Congratulations WMHS Debate Team!

Congratulations to the WMHS Debate Team on becoming VHSL State Debate Champions! Bailie Singleton finished first in Lincoln-Douglas, Karan Deengar & Marshall Hilbert finished 2nd in Public Forum, Lizzy Canterbury & Jessi Lang finished 2nd in Policy & Lucy Weidner & Quin Weidner tied for 3rd in Student Congress with Stephanie Long making it possible for both Lucy & Quin to be successful. This is the 3rd state championship for the team and the 3rd tournament they have won in a row, having beaten the competition in both districts & regionals this year!  Way to finish out the season strong!

Final Graduation Checklist of Dates for the Class of 2013

Tuesday, 5/21: NHS Gold Cord Ceremony, Blue Ridge Church of Christ at 7:00 PM. NHS Seniors arrive at 6:30 PM to line up.  Wear cap and gown

Thursday, 5/30: Spring Athletic Awards 6:30 PM in the WMHS Auditorium

Sunday, 6/2: Academic Awards Ceremony 5:00 PM in the WMHS Auditorium. No caps and gowns (Notification will be  made to those students receiving an award).

Sunday, 6/2: Baccalaureate, Blue Ridge Church of Christ at 7:00 PM. Seniors arrive by 6:45 PM to line up. Wear your cap and gown. No limit on the number of friends or family members that may attend.

Monday, 6/3: All debt cleared (books and uniforms turned in, library fines, cafeteria, etc.). Pay Ms. Carter, bookkeeper, in the main office by 3:30 PM.

Friday, 6/7: Arrive at 11:30 AM and report to the WMHS Auditorium for Graduation Practice. Dress is casual, cap and gowns are not needed. Practice is mandatory for participation in graduation ceremony. Seniors will ride buses to EMU for the practice and return to WMHS by 3:00 PM.

Saturday, 6/8: Arrive at 5:00 PM! Graduation Ceremony at Eastern Mennonite University – Seniors will meet the faculty and administration in the side hallway for the Class picture at 5:15 PM. Line up in correct order at 5:30 PM. Commencement will promptly start at 6:00 PM. (Doors will open to the public at 4:30 PM.)

Dress for Ceremony: EVERYONE in Cap and Gown and Honor Cords

·         Females—dress, skirt, or pants, dress shoes or boots, no flip flops, no shorts

·         Males—dress pants, shirt and tie, dress shoes or boots, no flip flops, no shorts

            No sunglasses, caps cannot be decorated, no gum

            No yelling, applause held to the end so the name of the next graduate can be heard

NOTE ON Transcripts for College: Seniors must notify Mrs. Landes or Mr. Sparks regarding your final decision on which college you are attending. Transcripts will need to be sent to this location.

Medicine Reminder

If you have brought in over-the-counter or prescription medication for your child to use during the school year, any remaining doses must be picked up by a parent by June 10, 3:00. Any medication that has not been picked up will be disposed of according to Augusta County School Board Policy.

 

 

12th Annual Jazz Social!

The Wilson Jazz Band will be hosting their 12th Annual Jazz Social in the WMHS Cafeteria on Saturday, 5/11 beginning at 7:00 PM. Food, dancing, desserts, door prizes! A great time will be had by all! You can dance the night away, or simply sit and enjoy a great evening! Tickets are $10 and kids 12 and under are $5. Buy in advance or at the door. See front office for tickets!
