• Hiking in Maine
Hello!  My name is Ms. Cox and I teach life science on the M-n-M Team.

Life science is a very interesting and engaging curriculum which covers topics ranging from cells and genetics to ecosystem dynamics and how living things evolve over time.

There is much uncertainty about how the new school year will look, but I am hoping to be able to continue some of my favorite activities, including raising brook trout from eggs to the release of fingerlings in May. In the past, all 7th graders at SMS also have had the opportunity to join an ecology club called Project Real World. The club partners with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and traditionally there has been at least one great field trip (usually a canoe outing on Elkhorn Lake) with that fabulous conservation organization! We will all have to wait and see if the pandemic conditions will allow for the in-person experiences. Rest assured that if conditions improve, I will be eager to offer outdoor nature experiences for students. In the meantime, we will have to rely on virtual substitutes.

Please feel free to contact me by the email link if you have questions.
