Hello!  My name is Fonda Morris and I am extremely happy to begin my sixth year as the principal at Clymore Elementary School in the Fort Defiance community and my 31st year working for the best school division - Augusta County Pubic Schools!

I am a proud product of Augusta County schools and have spent my entire career as an employee of Augusta County Public Schools as a teacher, coach, and administrator. I grew up in New Hope and Mt. Solon and graduated from Fort Defiance High School and Bridgewater College.  I taught at Hugh K. Cassell Elementary for 6 years and Wilson Elementary for 12 years.  During those teaching years I also coached volleyball and basketball at Fort Defiance and volleyball at Wilson Memorial where our team won a state championship in 1999.  I earned my master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in 2007 and served as an assistant principal at Hugh K. Cassell Elementary and Riverheads Elementary for 3 years before becoming the principal at Craigsville Elementary for two years.  I transferred to Clymore Elementary School six years ago to return to my home school community and love it here!

My husband, Rick, and I live in Fort Defiance so it's nice to be around the wonderful community I work with every day.  We love the outdoors and farming life and operate a horse boarding facility and cattle company.

I am a very proud parent of a son, Tyler Zombro, who graduated from George Mason University.  Just as Tyler graduated and prepared to begin a full time position in the Fairfax area, he received a very special phone call from the Tampa Bay Rays baseball organization inviting him to Florida to sign with their minor league team.  He finished last season with the Bowling Green Hot Rods, the Rays' Single A-Extended team which won the 2018 Midwest Championship! Last year he was bumped up 2 levels and played for the Rays' Minor League AA team, the Montgomery Biscuits.  During that same season, he was moved up to play for the AAA Durham Bulls team four times!  At the conclusion of his season with the Montgomery Biscuits, he was named as the 2019 Minor League Reliever of the Year for the entire Tampa Bay Rays organization!  He was even recognized at Tropicana Stadium which was an awesome experience!  Tyler had dreamed about being a professional baseball player since he was very young and it's an indescribable feeling to witness his dreams coming true!  His journey proves that hard work does pay off, which I like to share with our students!

I have 2 step-daughters, Holly and Katie, I'm also proud of!  Holly is currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree from Old Dominion University.  She lives and works locally so we get to see her and our grand-dog a lot!  Katie lives in Nashville with her husband and daughter and we really enjoy visiting our sweet granddaughter and grand-dog while having fun in Music City. Our granddaughter, Olivia, is the absolute sweetest thing and we love spoiling her!

I also have another very spoiled "child" at home ~ our 9 year old Border Collie-Australian Shepherd, Bailey.  She enjoys "working" while riding the four wheeler around the farm as well as relaxing at our house.  Since she is the only "child" currently at home, getting enough attention is never a concern.  We also have 2 horses, lots of cows, and some barn cats and kittens!

Needless to say, between keeping up with our family's events, farm chores, and my dream job, I stay extremely busy!  During the spring and summer, I am most likely to be found at a ball field or at home watching baseball!  In my spare time, I enjoy reading, riding the four wheeler around the farm, and simply relaxing by the fire pit, on the front porch rocking or swinging, or visiting with family and friends.  I also love just kicking back and watching my favorite television shows curled up with Bailey!

I have worked my entire career to help children and am very excited to continue these efforts another year at Clymore Elementary.  I look forward to working with the Fort/Clymore community again this year - faculty, staff, parents, community groups, schools, and most importantly, the students!   I want to continue facilitating the level of excellence at Clymore and the Fort School Community, creating a positive and productive learning environment while striving to do what’s best for all of our kids.

I encourage you to drop by to visit or contact me via phone at (540) 245-5043 or email at fmorris@augusta.k12.va.us if you ever have any questions or concerns.
