Hello! My name is Fonda Morris and I am extremely happy to begin my third year as the principal at Clymore Elementary School in the Fort Defiance community! I am especially thrilled this year to be welcoming the entire Verona school community as we all join together as ONE SCHOOL in the Fort community!I am a proud product of Augusta County schools and have spent my entire career (27 years) as an employee of Augusta County Public Schools as a teacher, coach, and administrator. I grew up in New Hope and Mt. Solon and graduated from Fort Defiance High School and Bridgewater College. I taught at Hugh K. Cassell Elementary for 6 years and Wilson Elementary for 12 years. During those teaching years I also coached volleyball and basketball at Fort Defiance and volleyball at Wilson Memorial where our team won a state championship in 1999. I earned my master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in 2007 and served as an assistant principal at Hugh K. Cassell Elementary and Riverheads Elementary for 5 years before becoming the principal at Craigsville Elementary for two years. I transferred to Clymore Elementary School two years ago to return to my home school community and love it here!
My husband, Rick, and I live in Fort Defiance so it's nice to be around the wonderful community I work with every day. We love the outdoors and farming life with our horses, a horse boarding facility, and cattle.I am an extremely proud parent of a son, Tyler Zombro, who graduated this spring from George Mason University. He had a fantastic collegiate career in the classroom with a 3.98 GPA and also on the baseball field as a starting pitcher. Just as Tyler graduated and prepared to begin a full time position in the Fairfax area, he received a very special phone call from the Tampa Bay Rays baseball organization inviting him to Florida to sign with their minor league team. He is now with the Princeton Rays Rookie League Minor League team. He has dreamed about being a professional baseball player since he was very young and it's unbelievable to witness his dreams coming true! His journey proves that hard work does pay off!I also have 2 step-daughters, Holly and Katie, who I'm also very proud of! They are both older and out living on their own. Holly lives and works in the area while attending Blue Ridge Community College so we get to see her and our grand-dog a lot! Katie lives and works in Nashville so we enjoy visiting her and our other grand-dog while having fun in Music City.I also have another very spoiled "child" at home ~ our 6 year old Border Collie-Australian Shepherd, Bailey. She enjoys "working" while riding the four wheeler around the farm as well as relaxing at our house. Since she is the only "child" currently at home, getting enough attention is never a concern.Needless to say, between keeping up with our family's events, farm chores, and my dream job, I stay extremely busy! During the spring and summer, I am most likely to be found at a ball field. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing volleyball, riding the four wheeler around the farm, and just relaxing by the fire pit or at the beach, and visiting with family and friends. I also recently began coaching again and enjoyed working with a JO volleyball team!I have worked my entire career to help children and am very excited to continue these efforts another year at Clymore Elementary as we welcome the Verona community and continue growing our amazing school with such a great tradition! I look forward to working with the entire Fort/Clymore community this year - faculty, staff, parents, community groups, schools, and most importantly, the students! I want to continue facilitating the level of excellence at Clymore, creating a positive and productive learning environment while striving to do what’s best for all of our kids.I encourage you to drop by to visit or contact me via phone at (540) 245-5043 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you ever have any questions or concerns.
