Welcome back!!!!(updated September 15, 2017)
Welcome to a new school and a new school year! Now that we have some dates confirmed, we would like to let you know what we have planned to meet the needs of our Gifted and Talented students. We already have some programs in the works and three field trips planned.
The academically gifted students will take one trip to the Governor’s School October 10th and will be taking another trip on February 13th. The students will be learning about chemistry and environmental science and will apply and communicate information visually, verbally and in writing related to developing creativity and thinking like an artist.
Mrs. Jolloff will be holding a painting workshop this fall (dates coming) and there will also be a STEM workshop held by Mr. Matherly. In the spring, Mrs. Emily Glenn will have a drumming workshop and there will be a ceramics workshop led by Artist-in-Residence, Susan Gutshall. Other activities include a school-wide STEM family night and science workshops at Riverheads High School. All TAG students will also be able to go to the Paramount Theater February 16th to see the musical, “Petra and the Wolf.” Please be on the lookout for more information about all of these in the future!
You may visit our RES Gifted and Talented website at www.augusta.k12.va.us/riverheadses. Click on Gifted and Talented. We will keep the calendar updated as information becomes available.
