The Augusta County School Board and Board of Supervisors approved the bid for the construction of a new Riverheads Elementary School. Work is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2016. We are so excited and want to share the architect's rendering of the proposed new building.
Groundbreaking Ceremony - February 12, 2016
Despite the cold weather, Riverheads Elementary broke ground on the new building in a small ceremony on Friday, February 12. The event was attended by community members, past and present members of the School Board and Board of Supervisors, as well as former teachers and principals. The Honors Choir kicked off the event with the singing of the National Anthem under the direction of Mrs. Emily Glenn. A reception was held in the library after the event.

The last two Fridays have been eventful ones for Riverheads Elementary! We followed up last week's Groundbreaking Ceremony with the actual groundbreaking on Friday, February 19. Work on the construction entrance and arrival of several pieces of heavy equipment were the highlights of the day.
Keep coming back for more updates.
