I hope that the fourth grade students will become engaged in the virtual learning environment for this school year!
With the restrictions of COVID -19 I have chosen not to do our "Brook Trout" in the classroom this year.

IF we were doing the Trout in the Classroom program the trout would arrive in October, students would be involved in daily observation and testing of water quality issues in the tank. We have been known to raise the largest trout in Virginia!

The pictures on the website were taken during the 2010- 2012 school year.  From 2012 through the 2018 school years we raised and released more than 125 trout each school year. The trout were released into Roaring Run Creek at Springdale Water Gardens.
The early school closing in March of 2020 created a need to release our trout earlier than usual. The 65 fingerling  trout were released into a private spring without student participation due to COVID virus social distancing and stay at home order.

2015- 2019 were successful Trout in the Classroom school years. We released more than 125 fingerlings into Roaring Run at Springdale Water Gardens at an after school field trip in May.
