    Mrs. Fravel’s Sensational Second Graders

     

    Welcome to second grade!   I am so glad you are here! We have lots of fun adventures planned.  I want to share some important information with you to help your students have a successful year!  We are beginning the year with spending some time getting to know each other. In order to do so I will be sending home an “All About Me Bag” on the first day of school.  The students will decorate the bag and put 3-5 items (toys, objects, pictures, etc.) from home in the bag to share with the class. Please assist your child in picking the items out and send them to school Friday, August 9th. The items must fit in the bag and after sharing at school on Friday the items will be sent home. 

    The first day of school is Tuesday, August 6th.  Please send in supplies as soon as possible. I do not need the binder or notebook paper for my class that is listed on the Augusta County School Supply List.  I would like to have Clorox Wipes and your child will need a crayon box. All other items on the county list are accurate. Make sure your child knows how they are getting home (car rider or bus number).  If all paperwork and forms can be signed and returned to school by Friday, August 9th it would be greatly appreciated.  

    Your child will have a red communication folder this year that will have one side for items to keep at home and the other side for items that have to be signed and returned.  Please check this folder daily and sign that homework is completed. More information about homework will be sent home later. This is a great communication folder and a way to send notes or lunch money to school.  If your child is absent and you would like to get their assignments, call the office during the morning to request their work or send me a dojo message, and it can be picked up in the office at the end of the school day. 

    Information about field trips will be sent home later.  If you wish to volunteer in the classroom or go on any field trips this year you will have to fill out the volunteer form. The PTA is providing free T-shirts this year to all students, please fill out the form so your child can receive their free shirt!  These are great to wear on school spirit days and field trips! 

    Breakfast will be free and served in the classroom first thing in the morning.  Your child may bring a snack from home and a water bottle with a secure lid. Ice cream will be available on Fridays to purchase and costs $.50.   If you wish to send in treats for your child's birthday, please arrange with me ahead of time. The parties will probably be held around 2:40.

     I’ve attached information about how to sign up for ClassDojo an excellent communication tool.  I will be using Responsive Classroom this year for behavior.  This is a school wide approach to behavior. More information will be coming home about Responsive Classroom. 

    I've also attached a copy of our daily schedule and specials rotation.  We will have WRE this year as part of our specials rotation beginning August 19th, please see the purple form explaining that information.  I look forward to meeting you and your child.
