WELCOME to the 2020 - 21 school year for the Gifted & Talented (G&T) Program
This year will be a year of virtual activities, learning opportunities, and self-initiated experiences. I will provide announcements and links to videos and websites for you to explore. Our ACPS Co-ordinator, Angela Deitz, will be providing us with updated information on testing at a later date. Please check the Wilson Middle School G&T website frequently throughout the year as opportunities are posted.
News for September & October 2020:
We have two opportunities for you to explore this month. The first one is the announcement for The Writer's Eye competition. This is a yearly event that I have always enjoyed taking the students on a field trip to UVA's Fralin Museum in Charlottesville. This year you can view the chosen art pieces online and there are ZOOM workshops for the students to participate in and get additional information about the artist and their work. Please click on the link for rules and guidelines for this amazing competition.
The second opportunity that is available an invitation from the Society of Women Engineer at UVA to participate in the University Student Taught Education Program (USTEP). USTEP is a fun-filled, all-gender, educational event where UVA students become teachers in order to share an interest or a skill with middle schoolers via a 50-minute interactive class. Middle schoolers register for 4 classes on topics such as programming, forensics, rockets, and more! Please click on the link for additional information.
