• Welcome to English!

I cannot tell you how incredibly excited I am to meet each one of you. I look forward to getting to know you this semester and to watch you grow as intellectuals. First and foremost, I want you to know that I am here to help you. I want to help you choose a book you can’t put down. I want to help you write more clearly and confidently than you ever have before. I want to help you if you are struggling or confused. But most importantly, I want to help you have fun. I feel confident that if you take this class seriously that you will learn a great deal and you will have fun in the process.

To really succeed in this class, I ask that you put forth 110% effort on every assignment, every reading, and every activity (both in class and at home). I want to see you trying your hardest and engaging with the material. Although I will provide guidelines for every activity in this class, it is solely your responsibility to put forth the time, effort, and critical thought necessary to complete the activities on time, while also producing work that you are proud of. After all, what is the point of hard work unless you are proud of the work you do?

Let’s work hard and be proud of the work we do together this semester.
