For those of you who might be wondering what the role of a counselor is in the school setting, we work with all students during Classroom Guidance, some students will be part of a small group on various topics, and a few students will receive individual counseling. We receive referrals from parents, teachers, administrators (and students!) for a variety of reasons. Our primary goal is to help students feel safe, comfortable and successful at school. Additionally, school counselors work with other school and community professionals to help remove barriers to a student's learning as well as encouraging each child as they develop academically, on a personal/social level and to support them as they think about the future--what they want to be when they grow up and what it will take to get there!
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Master of Arts degree in counseling, and have enjoyed working with students, parents and teachers as a school counselor for 12 years. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and baking, playing guitar, singing, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. I especially enjoy my role as "Noah and Lane's Mom".
I welcome any questions or concerns you may have. Make sure to check the counseling website for resources, updates, and information about our programs and stay in touch!
