A little about me...
My husband and I have two beautiful pre-school children that keep us on our toes! Much of our family time is spent in the world of make believe and wonder! My son is in awe over super heros and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, whereas my daughter is all about Peppa Pig and Yo Gabba Gabba!
I have been in education for the past 17 years at the high school, middle school, and collegiant levels. My first few years of working in a school setting were spent on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota as a high school English teacher. Those first few years were very near and dear to my heart as it really cemented a desire to work with students of all levels. After working as high school English teacher for several years in a few different school districts in South Dakota, I desired to go back to school to get my Master of Science in Counseling and Human Resource Development through South Dakota State University. While at SDSU in my master's program, I had the privilege in working in their teacher education program to work with student teachers as their university supervisor and by teaching instruction labs. From there, it was a natural fit for my first counseling position to be at the high school level. With moving to Virginia, I decided to try my hand at middle school. I loved it so much that I spent 10 years at level between Albemarle County Schools and Augusta County. Prior to this school year, I had the pleasure of working at Wilson Middle School and then follow my 8th grade students over here. I was ready for the excitement of being back in a high school setting and I have truly missed working with high school students!! It's been such a joy working at the Hive this year and I am excited to see what the future brings here for my students!
I keep an open door policy, so please stop by and say hello any time!
