Welcome to Grade 3! I am returning to teaching 3rd grade after many years of being a 4th grade teacher. I am excited to be a Hornet this year as I have worked previously with Mrs. Young, at Beverley Manor Elementary, before she came to Wilson. I have also had the pleasure of working with many other staff members here over the years. In 2017, I had the honor of being selected as Teacher of the Year during the final year Beverley Manor was in operation. I have a passion for learning that I love to share with my students.
My family consists of my husband, Bill Youell, a Tech grad and a Chemical Engineer, along with three grown sons. The youngest, Ross, lives in NYC where he is following his passion in men's fashion. My other sons are twins. Shea is the high school math teacher at Ocracoke Island, N.C. I say "the" because he teaches all the high school math subjects as the island school is small. Ryan completed his PhD., last year, and is a college professor in Seattle, Washington. We are finally a tuition free household after contributing to UVA, UNC, William & Mary and the University of Seattle. Whew!
Bill and I own and operate The Youell Family Farm which is a VA Century Farm, having been in continual operation for over 100 years. When we can squeeze in free time, we love to camp at VA State Parks. Last summer we made our goal of camping in each VA State Park. We always bring along our little dog Finley and our kayaks.
