Hello Clymore Cardinals and families! My name is Shannon Brake and I am excited to be serving in my second year as Assistant Principal at Clymore Elementary and in the Fort Community. I am committed to the success and safety of our students each and every day!
I began my career in education in Rockingham County. I taught at McGaheysville Elementary, Broadway High School, and Elkton Elementary for a total of 10 years. My classroom experience consists of years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade as well as several Marketing and Business classes. During my 11th year, I served as the Assistant Principal Intern at South River Elementary.
I earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing in 2004. A little too late, I realized that my passion in life was helping children learn. I continued with my education and earned my Master’s in the Art of Teaching from James Madison University in 2008. I completed my coursework for Educational Leadership through JMU in 2017.
My husband grew up in Greenville, Virginia and attended school in the Riverheads school district. As our family grew, we desired to move closer to grandparents and other family members. I currently live in Staunton with my husband Justin, (a teacher at BMMS), daughter Sloane (3), son Carson (2), and fur babies Wrigley, Percy, and Sadie.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love reading! I enjoy a variety of literature and wish I had more time to read for pleasure. I also enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. I have experienced my fair share of “Pinterest Fails”, but I am learning a LOT and SLOWLY expanding my family’s taste bud horizons :)
In my years of experience, I have come to know and believe that it is essential as educators to develop and strengthen relationships with students each year. I believe that all students can succeed and that it is our duty as educators to determine appropriate learning levels and differentiate material to best meet student needs. Most importantly, I believe that I am here to serve and help- students, parents, teachers, staff, and our community!
Please let me know if I can help to support you or your student(s). You are welcome to make an appointment, or contact me by email or phone (firstname.lastname@example.org ; 245-5043). I look forward to working with you and your child(ren)!
