Instructor: Mr. Matt Baraclough
Mr. Baraclough began playing trumpet as a student in the Cortland City school district in Cortland, New York in 1976. He graduated from North Hagerstown High School, in Maryland, in 1985.He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Shenandoah College and Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia in December of 1989. He immediately went to work for Six Flags Music Festivals and helped run band, orchestra, and choral competitions in Atlanta, Toronto, Dallas, Chicago, and Los Angeles. He began his teaching career at Moorefield High School in West Virginia in 1990. Leaving Moorfield in 1995, he headed for Virginia. He taught in Nelson County for 2 years before finally moving Wilson Memorial.Mr. Baraclough has been teaching at Wilson since 1997. He is a member of VBODA, The National Education Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Mr. Baraclough was selected as the District 5 Band Director of the Year in 2019. Currently, he enjoyes wood working, watching "Friends", and of course CHOCOLATE!Go to our WMHS Band Website
