Augusta County Preschools
The Augusta County Preschool program has a full day classroom in each elementary school. Once accepted into the program, students attend the preschool in their home school district. Enrollment is based upon a variety of at-risk factors. The first step in seeking preschool enrollment is to schedule an appointment with a preschool staff member. Augusta County uses a combination of federal, state, and local funding sources to provide high quality services to all children in the preschool program. Our teachers are licensed, educated, and trained to meet the needs of children at all developmental levels including students with identified disabilities. We employ an all inclusive approach where children with disabilities attend school along side their peers. This philosophy fosters greater independence and developmentally advanced skills. In addition, it allows all children to appreciate individual differences at an early age. Assessments for math and literacy are completed three times throughout the year to track students’ progress and ensure preparedness for kindergarten. Family Service Coordinators work with every family to provide support outside of the classroom and to foster a positive relationship with schools.
