Distance (virtual) Learning

Distance (virtual) Learners

Bison families that have selected Distance (virtual) Learning for the 2020-21 school year please contact the Main Office (337-6021) to pick up our beginning of the year packet. This includes many student forms not included in online registration that need to be returned by Sept. 8th.

The performance and logon expectations for Distance learning will be based upon teacher direction in each course. Classes are not expected to be synchronous (i.e. same time as their block during the day) unless communicated by the teacher with the exception of Driver's Education in 10th grade PE with Mr. Keyser.

It is important that students/families are in contact with their teachers by email or phone (337-6021) and that students are keeping up with each of their respective Distance (virtual) Learning classrooms.

This year, your teachers will be making use of Canvas to help your students explore content, participate in activities, and learn. Here are some resources that are available to help you as you work in this new Distance Learning Environment.

Using Canvas with Your Child in the First Days of School

You will need to go to Canvas.

You will need to connect Google with Canvas

You can use one or more of the following videos to learn more about Canvas:

  1. Canvas Student Video List
  2. Student Orientation (10ish minutes, but thorough)
  3. Canvas Student Overview

Offline Options Reminders

If you do not have the internet at home, your teacher will explain to you the process for downloading content for your student to use.

Each week, you should clean off your hard drive so it does not fill up! Printable instructions for cleaning the hard drive.

Google Accounts

Here is an info sheet on Accessing Google on a Home Device.

If the Chromebook is acting weird, you might need to update your device. You can also try clearing your Cache to improve computer performance.

If you have questions about using Canvas or accessing student work, please contact your child’s teacher.
