Arrival | Students may report to school as early as 7:30 am to the gym at the back of our school. Kindly note that Preschool students should be dropped off at the front of our school at 7:45 am. Bus riders arrive at 7:45 am. All students should arrive by 8:10 am. Students arriving after this time are considered tardy and must report with the parent/guardian to the front office.

Dismissal (If your child will be riding the bus home with another student, BOTH students must have a written and signed note by the parent/caregiver.) | Dismissal begins at 3:01 pm for car riders and bus riders. Car riders will be given name cards to display. ALL car riders should be picked up from the gym. Please follow the car rider pick up line. Kindly note: All car riders must be picked up by 3:30 pm. Kindly note that Preschool students (and their older siblings) are dismissed beginning at 2:50 pm at the front of our school. If things change for your child’s dismissal routine, kindly alert the office as soon as possible or by 2:15 pm. (540 886-8550).

Attendance | Attendance really matters! Your child’s presence each day is foundational to their lifelong success in school. Students are meaningfully engaged in a variety of academic and social experiences that help them reach their full potential. Being present and on time is a wonderful way to ensure your student can maximize his/her potential. If it is necessary for your child to be absent, please do one of the following: Work to plan vacations and outings when school is not in session. If it is necessary to be out, kindly prearrange these by sending in a note or email Mrs. Davis at least one week prior. It’s always better when we are here at Bobcat Country together! We truly take great pride in providing meaningful educational experiences for our students. |
PEDS (personal electronic devices) Cell Phones & Smart Watches | If you allow your child to bring a PED (personal electronic device) such as a cell phone, tablet, smart watch to school kindly note the following: PEDs (cell phones, tablets, smart watches, etc.) must be turned off and stored in bookbags for the duration of the school day. Students are not permitted to use PEDs (cell phones, smart watches, tablets, etc.) during the school day. The school is not liable for lost or damaged PEDs (Cell Phones, smart watches,tablets, etc…). Communication 
| School announcements and teacher communication will take place using the PARENT SQUARE app. All families are encouraged to Download the app on the device of your choice. Families are always welcome to call and/or email our school. Faculty and staff emails may be located on our webpage. Communication folders are sent home regularly. Families are encouraged to check these folders for important papers, updates, and notes regarding your child’s progress. Infinite Campus/Parent Portal is our division’s communication system. Families are encouraged to use this to check student grades, attendance updates, and other information.

Breakfast & Lunch, | For the 26-27 school year, breakfast and lunch are served daily to all students at no cost. Students will be served breakfast daily in the cafeteria. Kindly note that microwaves are NOT available for student use in the cafeteria. Chips/cookies are available for purchase. Students can put money on lunch accounts in order to purchase these items. Ice cream is available for purchase on Tues: preK-2nd and Thurs: 3rd-5th. Students need to have the exact amount of money in hand to purchase ($1.50). Hydration is key to productive learning. Students are encouraged to bring water bottles to school. We have refilling stations for students to use.

Ways to be involved | Join our PTB (parent teacher board). NRES is blessed to have an amazing Parent and Teacher Association. The group meets once a month to discuss ways to support our NRES community. These monthly meeting dates may be found on our website. Come have lunch with your student. You are welcome to sign into the office and join your student for lunch (you may purchase a school lunch or you may bring in your own lunch.) Volunteer! You may volunteer to assist with copies, laminating, cutting, or other classroom supports. You will need to complete a volunteer form prior to participation. Share your talents: Share your expertise as a classroom presenter or speaker Share your thoughts regarding community partnership ideas Contact Mrs. Davis or Mrs. Trissel with other ideas or thoughts

Safety | Please be aware that we take safety very seriously. In order to maintain that discipline, our caring office staff will greet guests through the call box and ask each guest to identify themselves and disclose their purpose for coming to school. All adults entering the building will need their identification with them. If you are bringing your child to school after school begins or picking your child up early, you will need to sign in to the IDent-A-Kid computer at the front office with your identification. During drills and a true lockdown, a strobe light will flash on the outside of the building. You will be unable to enter the building until the light is off.
