CALENDAR CHANGES DUE TO WEATHER: At the ACPS School Board Budget Work session on February 20, 2025, several members of the Board expressed concerns about the loss of seat time/ instructional time, especially for 2nd semester, due to our inclement weather days in January and February. Therefore, they approved a motion to add back instructional time with the follow revisions to the 2024-2025 ACPS Calendar: April 7, 2025 will now be a REGULAR school day instead of the scheduled Teacher Workday/School Professional Development Day. Additionally, April 18, 2025 will now be a FULL school day instead of a 1:00 early dismissal.

On Thursday, December 5, 2024, the School Board unanimously voted to approve the Personally-Owned Electronic Device (PED)-Free Education policy. This policy will go into effect at the beginning of the second semester when students return to school following the holiday break on Monday, January 6, 2025. The expectation for students will be that all personally owned electronic devices are “away for the (school) day.” Administrators and teachers will be working with their students to communicate the expectations for them when they return from break. We encourage you to take some time to familiarize yourself with the policy and have a conversation with your student(s). More information

We are having an orientation for 6th graders on Thursday, August 1 and are offering two different sessions: 3:00-5:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. Students will meet in their homerooms at either 3:00 pm or 6:00 pm where the orientation will begin. We will make announcements when it's time to rotate classrooms and students will go visit all four of their core academic classes - English, Math, Science, and History. After those visits, they will be released to visit the Exploratory and PE Teachers. The first session will end at 5:00 pm and the last session will end at 8:00 pm. After the 6th grade orientation, 6th grade students can be assigned their hallway lockers for the year along with their combination so they can begin practicing that same evening! Students will need to pay fees before their visitation times so they can receive their schedules. Fee collection begins Tuesday, July 30 at 8:30 am and continues until 4:30 pm. We will begin collecting fees again that evening from 5:30-8:00 pm. Fee collection will also be available Wednesday, July 31 from 8:30 am-4:00 pm and then on Thursday, August 1 from 1:00 pm-8:00 pm. Student fees for middle school can be paid in person at the school or online through the parent portal and fees are as follows: Technology Fee…….….……$35.00 PE Locker Fee (optional).......$5.00 (This fee will be reimbursed when the lock is returned.) There is also a middle school sports fee if students play a middle school sport, but that is not collected at this time. ***Student breakfasts and lunches are FREE again this year!*** If you have not done so already, please complete the online registration update which is open through August 15 and can be completed from computers or your mobile device. If the online update has not taken place, you will need to complete the process at school before receiving your child's schedule. Avoid lots of extra paperwork and time and complete this process online now. (We can help with this at school now; just call.)

We appreciate our School Psychologists! During the week of November 6-10, 2023 schools throughout the United States will celebrate National School Psychology Week (NSPW) to highlight the important work school psychologists and other educators do to help all students thrive. This year's theme is "Let's Grow Together," inspired by the importance of both personal and shared strengths in our growth as individuals and school communities in every season of life. The theme recognizes every aspect of growth, as fundamental to effective learning environments and to school psychologists' role in supporting student well-being and learning. -National Association of School Psychologists
