ROCK the HOUSE Fundraiser
Once again, the Stinger Community Crew is holding a “No Fundraiser Fundraiser” called Rock the House.
Rock the House is quite simple. We are asking for monetary donations.
The fundraiser is a competition between the two school houses, Knowledge (yellow) and Courage (blue). The house that raises the most money will win a prize from the SCC.
The SCC has many exciting plans for this year. These plans include quarterly incentives for all students, quarterly thank you for teachers and staff, funding teacher grants, student celebrations, popcorn for attendance, and much more. In order for these things to be accomplished, we need your help.
Please consider making a donation. Students may bring donations to the office. Checks should be made out to "WMS SCC".
Let’s work together to make this an awesome year for Stinger Nation!

The first cross country practice will be this coming Saturday at 8
am. Please meet in the WWRC parking lot by the road to the lake/star
trail. We are still looking for runners!
Please don't forget to bring physicals and signed concussion forms.

We are looking forward to seeing so many of you this afternoon for our Open House! All of our Educators will be here to welcome you to their classrooms and meet you.
A couple of reminders:
Please complete your online registration to update our records this year.
Remember you are able to pay registration fees ($45) through your parent portal using a credit/debit card! You may also pay in person, but only with cash or check. You may also add money to your child's lunch account through your parent portal by going to the "food service" tab. Or, you may just send money in with your child when they come to school and have them bring it to the Cafeteria.
If you would like your student's schedule printed, please go to the Main Office.
The Administration Team will be giving brief meetings in the Cafeteria to review the ins and outs of Stinger Life and schoolwide expectations. These will be at 3:45, 4:15 and 5:05 so you may choose whichever time works best for you! They will only last approximately 15 minutes.
Food trucks will be available from 4-7! Grab some dinner from Shredder's BBQ, Domino's or maybe just a cool refreshing treat from Kona Ice!
Our Open House will be from 3:30-5:30, and the High School will have their Open House from 5:30-7:30.

Greeting Stinger Families! Our boys and girls middle school cross country teams are still looking for runners to join the team this Fall. Last season our girls were the Augusta County Champions and our boys were runners up, and they are looking to build upon that success.
There will be a meeting at 8 am Saturday, July 16 in the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation parking lot which is next to the cross country course. All interested runners should attend. There will be Saturday morning "fun run" training practices at the Wilson course July 16, 23 and August 6.
Reminder that runners need to turn in a VHSL physical and concussion waiver to the office or to coach Franklin at practice.

The School Year (SY) 2021-2022 Indicator 8 Parent Survey collection period will soon be upon us. Please note that the methodology for dissemination of the Indicator 8 survey has not changed from last year.
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) encourages that you have parents complete this year’s survey using the online links listed below for versions in English and Spanish. The online survey will open June 1, 2022. The VDOE will also work with our parent agency partners to make the availability of the online survey known to parents across the Commonwealth, as well as sending it out through our social media links and GovDelivery messaging platform.
Links posted under "Helpful Links" for Parents.
Printed surveys and postage paid return envelopes will be sent to each local educational agency (LEA) special education administrator for direct dissemination to parents of children with disabilities. The printed surveys will be shipped directly to LEAs by the middle of May 2022, in quantities to match each LEA’s December 1 child count, plus an additional ten percent. This will be the same for the English and Spanish versions of the printed surveys.
The VDOE is asking for your assistance to promote completion of the survey by each of your families who has a child with a disability who is provided special education services through an Individualized Education Program (IEP), by whatever means you deem appropriate. Families who have more than one child receiving special education services should complete a separate survey for each of their children.
This year’s deadline to complete and submit survey responses, in any modality, is December 16, 2022.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment toward ensuring that we involve all parents in their child’s special education program. If you have questions or need assistance concerning this survey process, please contact Chiquita Seaborne, via telephone, at (804) 225-3898 or via email, at Chiquita.Seaborne@doe.virginia.gov.

The WMS Library Squad has finished their final project for the year and gifted a Little Free Library to the school. It was placed in the front foyer of the school for students and families to use. Many students contributed to this project by sharing their time, talent, and also by assisting with the book drive. The library also received a make-over this spring, and many murals were added to the library space. We would like to thank the WMHS art students who helped make this project possible. Mrs. Rachel Janacaro, along with many others, shared hours of her time overseeing this paint project that the art students completed. The staff and students at Wilson Middle School appreciate all of their hard work and love the new look!

WMS School Supply List attached! Reminder that if you order a custom made school supply kit by May 25th, you'll get the reduced price! Consider this easy, quick, efficient way to get school supplies done for next year!
