Program of Studies Course Labeling Changes
Incoming and current Buffalo Gap Families,
We are revising the course names in our Student Information System beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. This change will not impact students’ expectations or the class curriculum. All classes aim to promote critical thinking, develop reading and writing skills, and prepare students for future academic success and career readiness. The course name changes will align with a more uniform and accurate Program of Studies for the school division. Students will continue to enjoy small class sizes and focused instruction that corresponds with their grade level Standards of Learning for Virginia.
As an example: Students entering English 9 courses during the 2025–26 school year would traditionally be placed in classes that may have been labeled in multiple ways (A, Regular, B, or Part 1/A or Part 2/B, etc.), however, the overall curriculum for the class English 9 is the same regardless of label and is also reflected in the student transcript as English 9 regardless of the label in our system. This course aims to foster critical thinking, enhance reading and writing skills, and prepare students for future academic success.
At Buffalo Gap we will continue to encourage student collaboration and uphold high expectations as part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment, promoting student growth, and achieving excellence.
Chromebook Pick Up/Exchange
New Students will pick up and exchange their chromebooks on the first day of school. Bison families if you need to Pick Up/Exchange a school Chromebook following the opening of school, please call 337-6021 between the hours of 8:30am - 4:00pm.
9th-12th graders are reminded to bring their fully charged Chromebook to school. Cell phones are not required for instruction and are not to be used throughout the school day. Students are expected to dress appropriately for an educational environment. Please see the ACPS Dress code and other school policies located in the Secondary Student Handbook. Thank you for your support!
