BE ALERT! First Day of School

Tomorrow (Wed, Aug. 6, 2025) is the first day of school for Augusta County. This means that school buses will be on the road.

-Car drivers, please give our school buses lots of room to run their routes and pick up students.
-Obey the stop arms to enable students to safely load and unload.
-Bus drivers will be getting acclimated to their routes. Please be at your stop in advance in case they're running early, and be patient if they're running late.
-Route timing and consistency will improve over time.

And lastly, be kind! We appreciate the service our bus drivers are providing our students.

It's Back to School Eve! At Stinger Nation, we got you! There are lots of supports for students and families. Admin, Counselors, Teachers, and Staff are here to serve you! While we will help anyone and everyone, Admin and Counselors serve the following grade levels specifically. 8th Grade - Mr. P (Assistant Principal) and Mrs. Bartley (Counselor). 7th Grade - Mr. Grove (Assistant Principal) and Mrs. Eliasson (Counseling Coordinator). 6th Grade - Mrs. Hilbert (Principal) and Mrs. Cook (Counselor). Front Office - Mrs. Brown (attendance secretary) and Ms. Parrish (bookkeeper). Let us know how we can help!

As you gather and organize student supplies, please remember zippered binders are not permitted due to weapons detector procedures. Thank you! (Reminder: Open House today at 3:30)

Please review our cell phone protocols - At WMS, cell phones are Away for the Day, turned off and stored in student lockers. Phones may be confiscated (and returned at the end of the day) for the first offense and a day of in-school suspension may follow for additional infractions.

At Wilson Middle School, attendance matters! When your student does need to be out, please either send an email to wmsattendance@augusta.k12.va.us or a written note turned into the front office within 3 days of your student's return to school. A phone call on the morning of being absent will also excuse your student.

Routines are important for getting your student ready for school. Plan now for setting bedtimes and morning routines. Doors will open at 7:30. Tardy bell at 8:10. Dismissal at 3:00. Breakfast and lunch are free for all students.

Stuff the Bus for the Augusta County Schools!

Please come out to the Walmart in Staunton on Friday August 1st or Saturday August 2nd from 10 AM - 6 PM and help "stuff the bus" with supplies that will go directly to our schools. A supply list will be available on-location. This event is being sponsored by the Salvation Army.

Back to school means supplies. Label supplies to stay organized. Also label clothing items/backpacks/lunch boxes/water bottles so that lost and found items can be returned to the correct student. Open House - Monday, August 4 from 3:30-5:30. There will be two information sessions at 4 and 4:45 with Administration. Bring your student's schedule (available in Parent Portal) so they can walk through their day and meet their teachers. Bus Drivers and School Nurse will be available. Kona Ice and Domino's Pizza on site from 3:30-5:30.

Pay fees beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, July 29 online and in-person. Fees collected at WMS from 8:30 until 4:00. Extended hours until 7 pm on Monday, August 4th only. Fees are $35. Cash or check only in-person or with a credit card online.

There will be no volleyball open gyms today, July 22, 2025 due to floor waxing. Open gyms will resume on Thursday.

Open Gyms will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm-6pm beginning Thursday, 7/10/25.

There will be no open gym on 7/31/25.
