Dear CHES, BGMS, and BGHS Families, Teachers, and Staff Members,
As your new Division Superintendent, I am planning listening sessions throughout the school division
during the month of March. The purpose of these listening sessions is to engage with as many school and
community stakeholders as possible to identify areas of strength and growth in Augusta County Public
Schools.
You are cordially invited to a listening session for the Buffalo Gap Area Schools on Wednesday,
March 4, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at Churchville Elementary School.
During the listening session, I plan to ask these guiding questions:
❖ What traditions and beliefs do we value as a school division?
❖ What are the strengths of Augusta County Public Schools?
❖ What ideas do you have for improvement?
❖ How can we ensure high standards of academic achievement for all students?
❖ What are the challenges we face?
❖ What are your expectations of me as your new Superintendent?
Your insights as parents, guardians, caregivers, and employees will be invaluable to me, our School
Board, and our continued work toward meeting the goals outlined in our Comprehensive Plan.
I look forward to meeting with as many of you as possible on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Sincerely,
Kelly F. Troxell, Ed.D.
Division Superintendent
cc: Dr. John Ocheltree, Jr., School Board Member
Dr. Sharon Griffin, School Board Member
Mrs. Carrie Barb, CHES Principal
Mr. Bob Lunger, BGMS Principal
Mr. Larry Landes, Interim BGHS Principal
*Note - A separate listening session for Craigsville Elementary is being planned in conjunction with an existing school
meeting on Tuesday, March 10th.
