This class will be honored at halftime of the Riverheads - Altavista Football game on Friday, September 4th and in a formal induction ceremony on Saturday, September 5th at the Riverheads High School Layman Auditorium at 5PM. Fall sports tryouts/practices are right around the corner! Listed below is the information for first day tryout/practice info. Time to get excited for another year of RHS athletics! GO BIG RED!!
All student-athletes must have a current VHSL completed physical form on file at RHS prior to tryouts. If you have questions about tryouts, please contact the head coach of that sport listed.
VOLLEYBALL
Varsity and JV: Tryouts will be Wednesday,Thursday,Friday Aug 5, 6, 7th 3:30-5:30 pm each day in RHS main gym. Candidates should attend all 3 days of tryouts. Knee pads and water bottle recommended.

Free athletics physical night

The May 7, 2026 School Board Meeting will be held at The Center for Instruction and Professional Learning (58 Cedar Green Rd, Staunton; formerly BMMS). We will begin with the Whole Village Awards at 5:30 PM, followed by the regular School Board Meeting at 6:30 PM.

April School Board Meeting: The Augusta County School Board is usually scheduled for the first Thursday of the month. However, the first Thursday in April occurs during Spring Break for Augusta County Public Schools. Therefore, the meeting will be held on April 9, 2026 at the Augusta County Government Center at 6:30 PM.

UPDATE: 3/16/26: This is to provide an update as we continue to monitor the weather conditions throughout our region and school division. It has been communicated to us that the current plan is to remain in school for the remainder of the day. As such, the following will be implemented due to potential weather conditions as we head into the evening and overnight -

- All after school activities, events, practices and games are postponed today. This includes community groups using the facilities.

Athletic Contests updates -
- Boys/Girls Tennis matches with Buffalo Gap today postponed.
- Girls Soccer at Fort on 3/17/26 postponed
- Baseball/Softball v. and at Stonewall Jackson on 3/17/26 postponed

After-School Activities on March 2, 2026:

All ACPS after-school activities and evening building use rentals for today are cancelled. All students are to go home immediately upon dismissal.

Calendar Change for April 2026:
Due to the special election called by Governor Spanberger on April 21, 2026, ACPS has made an adjustment to the current school calendar to accommodate voting in our buildings. Monday, April 20, 2026 was originally scheduled as a day off for students and teacher workday/professional development. April 20th will now be a regularly scheduled school day. Tuesday April 21, 2026, will now be the workday/professional development day for teachers with schools being closed for students.

Due to below freezing temperatures overnight and the potential for icy road conditions tomorrow morning, Augusta County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow - Monday, February 23, 2026.

School Calendar Change:

Due to the recent extended school closing, the 3rd Quarter will now end on March 17th with Report Cards available on March 24th. The 4th Quarter will begin on March 18th.

For Middle Schools only:
In addition to the above changes, the following adjustments for the 6-weeks rotations will be made to help even out the instructional time:

-4th 6-weeks will now end on 2/24/2026 (27 days)
-5th 6-weeks will run from 2/25/2026 - 4/10/2026 (27 days)
-6th 6-weeks will run from 4/13/2026 - 5/21/2025 (28 days)

Due to a required system update, the ACPS Infinite Campus site will be unavailable starting on Wednesday, February 11 at 6 pm through Thursday, February 12 at 6 am. The update will affect access to the Parent Portal and Student Portal.

Augusta County Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, February 2, 2026. 12-Month Employees should report on time.

We will check road conditions again tomorrow and hope to reopen schools as soon as it is safe to do so. Thank you for your understanding.

The Augusta County School Board will hold a public hearing on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 6:30 PM to receive input as it pertains to the 2026-2027 budget. The meeting will be held at the Augusta County Government Center in Verona, Virginia. All interested parties are invited to attend. Details for those wishing to speak are available on the "School Board" tab of the Augusta County Public Schools website. The regular board meeting will follow.

Augusta County Public Schools has canceled all activities for Wednesday, January 28. No practices, games, etc. will be held.

Augusta County Public Schools and all school division offices/departments will be closed Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Essential personnel may be called to work on Tuesday.
