Free athletics physical night

UPDATE: 3/16/26: This is to provide an update as we continue to monitor the weather conditions throughout our region and school division. It has been communicated to us that the current plan is to remain in school for the remainder of the day. As such, the following will be implemented due to potential weather conditions as we head into the evening and overnight -

- All after school activities, events, practices and games are postponed today. This includes community groups using the facilities.

Athletic Contests updates -
- Boys/Girls Tennis matches with Buffalo Gap today postponed.
- Girls Soccer at Fort on 3/17/26 postponed
- Baseball/Softball v. and at Stonewall Jackson on 3/17/26 postponed

Augusta County Public Schools has canceled all activities for Wednesday, January 28. No practices, games, etc. will be held.

The 2025 edition of the Riverheads Yearbook, themed Seeing Red, was awarded First Place in the Faire National Yearbook Review. This nationwide contest accepts submissions from all 50 states and scores yearbooks across four categories, totaling 1,000 possible points. Riverheads earned an impressive 950 overall, including a perfect score of 200 in the Content & Coverage category, which evaluates how well the publication features classes, clubs, special events, sports, student life, and overall student representation. Congratulations to the RHS yearbook staff along with Ms. Wenger - RHS yearbook sponsor - on this National recognition! Go Gladiators - RED PRIDE!

- School Activities, practices, and games can be held today after 3:00 p.m. Head Coaches will notify student-athletes of practice plans and game information

- Thursday, December 11 is the last day of the After School Study Zone/Tutoring for the first semester. Will resume second semester on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

- Winter Concert will be held on Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Admission is FREE - come out and hear some holiday cheer from a talented group of students and staff! Any questions - reach out to Mr. Blackburn or Mr. Cuppernull.

If we get anymore weather related delays or closing we will make the appropriate changes as needed. Students should be prepared and expect to take end of the semester testing at this point and are encouraged to do their best on the these important assessments! - Mentorship Presentations scheduled for today will be rescheduled for a later date.
- Athletic Booster Club Meeting is postponed tonight and will be rescheduled for a later date.
- Scholastic Bowl tonight at Waynesboro postponed tonight and will be reschedule for a later date.
- Depending on the status of school tomorrow, testing dates will be adjusted as well. IF this the case it will be communicated both at school and through a ParentSquare notification to families and students.

RHS UPDATES: 12/5/25
- NO school activities, games, or events today. This applies to any outside groups using school facilties (ex. - little leagues, etc.)
- Ag credential testing scheduled for today will be moved to Tuesday, Dec. 9
- SOL Retakes scheduled for today will be moved to Monday, Dec. 8
- SVGS shadowing will be moved to later date; guidance will be in touch with those students on the rescheduled date once it has been established.
- Girls Basketball v. Parry McCluer postponed tonight and will be reschedule to a later date

Weekend Activities:
- School activities, games or events can occur after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6. Teachers, Coaches and/or sponsors will be communicating practice times, activity or games adjustments as appropriate. No Sunday events can occur that are school related.
- Saturday School on December 6 is postponed. All students will be rescheduled for January 10, 2026.
- District Band Auditions on Saturday, Dec. 6 have been moved to a virtual setting. Reach out to Mr. Cuppernull if you have any questions.

Other Information:
- FFA Fruit pick-up will begin on December 9 (3:30 - 8:00 p.m.), December 10 & 11 (3:30 - 5:00 p.m.) in the Ag building behind the school. Reach out to Mr. Beard or Ms. Sonifrank - Ag/FFA advisors - if you have any questions.

- Cafeteria notification: While breakfast and lunch are free for all students, the "extras" not associated with the meal are not free (ex: chips, cookies, ice cream, drinks, etc.). Outstanding balances can be viewed and pay online through ParentPortal or by contacting the RHS cafeteria manager - Ms. Miller - at school by phone or email. We ask that these outstanding balances be paid as soon as possible. Thanks for your prompt attention to getting this done.

- The last week of the After School Study Zone/Tutoring support (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in the Library from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.) for the first semester will be Thursday, December 11 and the first day of the second semester will be Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Students are encouraged to use this free opportunity to get work completed as we finish up the first semester on December 19.

- SOL Testing begins this week (starts on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday). Attendance is very important on these days.

- RHS Winter Concert: A reminder that our outstanding group of students will be performing a Winter Concert on Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. You are encouraged to come and watch the performance.

Spring Musical Auditioins for "Annie" will be held on November 10 and 11 after school in the Auditorium. Anyone else should swing by to see Mr. Blackburn or Mr. Kelly for more information.

Winter Athletic Sports start November 10, 2025. Be sure that your child has a physical on file prior to trying out.

Please congratulate the 2025 Yearbook Staff on winning a VHSL Trophy Class rating on the 2025 yearbook, titled "Seeing Red." Trophy Class in the publication category of the VHSL is equivalent to a State Championship in Athletics. This is the Colosseum's 2nd state championship in the last three years, and the hard work and dedication of the yearbook staff shines through the pages of this publication. Thanks to our students, staff and community for their continued support of our yearbook program. Thanks to our yearbook advisor, Ms. Wenger, for her dedication and commitment as well.

New Student/Back to School Night - July 31 at 6:00 p.m.

Important update for 2025-26: The Shenandoah District has voted to set admission prices at $7 for all spectators, ages 6 and up, for all athletic contests, JV and Varsity. Just as we did this past year, Riverheads High School Athletics will offer a nearly 30% discount on admission to all home regular season contests for senior citizens, students, families, and all other spectators through our Athletics punch pass card. These cards cost $50 each and are good for admission to any 10 home regular season contests, a savings of nearly 30% off regular admission prices. The cards are good for the entire year of athletic contests-fall, winter, and spring. The cards can be purchased in the main office of Riverheads High School or at the ticket gate at home athletic events. Don't miss out on a chance to save money while supporting our Gladiators! Games will be starting up in August-GO BIG RED!!
