This is my first year teaching Adaptive Physical Education for Augusta County Schools. It is my goal for all students to have the knowledge and access to have a lifelong, healthy lifestyle. Every year our APE students have the option to go on up to ten community physical activity field trips. My favorites are jump and bowling. It is a great time to see students out in the community doing something that they may have never done before.

In my free time, I love to do things with my family, my fur babies, and to be outside!

I have been teaching Adapted Physical Education for 13 years (plus one year in the classroom), this is my 7th year in Augusta County. It is my goal for all students to have the knowledge and access to have a lifelong, healthy lifestyle. In addition to what we do in the gym, every year our APE students have the option to go on up to ten community physical activity field trips. My favorites are snow tubing and horseback riding. I love seeing my students do things for the first time! When I am not working, I love to spend time with my family. I have two kids (Kate and Jackson) who keep me busy with their extracurricular activities. My husband and I love to travel!

OUR MISSION:

The mission of the Adapted Physical Education is to provide all students with disabilities the same opportunities as their peers without disabilities through fitness, cooperative, and sport-related activities. These activities facilitate the development and growth of social interaction, body control, body coordination, balance, flexibility, muscular strength/endurance, and cardiorespiratory endurance. To the greatest extent possible, we will promote inclusive opportunities for students with disabilities in general physical education, provide access to the general physical education curriculum and provide support in the direct teaching of Physical Education student learning objectives through appropriate modifications and accommodations.
